Clan Maclean Heritage Trust
Welcome to the home page for the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust.
The purpose of the Trust is "promoting and advancing the education of the public in the history, traditions and music of the Clan Maclean" (from the 1996 Trust Deed). It seeks to preserve and make widely known the enormous contribution that members of the Clan Maclean have made, and are still making, in politics, medicine, literature, music, sport, exploration and other forms of scientific endeavour, military campaigns and many other fields. It ensures that their achievements are not forgotten, not only through the printed word but also through the preservation of manuscripts, artefacts, buildings and other tangible links. It also promotes the continuing contribution of Macleans in these areas.
In this section you will find:
- An introduction to the role and work of the Trust
- An overview of the major achievements of the Trust since its creation in 1996 and earlier by the Clan Maclean Association, with a fuller description of some of the events of more recent years.
- Some of the current projects on which the Trust is working
- A list of the books and articles in the Clan Maclean archive in the Mull Museum, together with a list of some important records that we are still missing – all donations are gratefully received!

- The current Trustees
- The important role played by the Friends of the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust
- Details of the books and map available from our bookshop
The work of the Trust depends upon the continuing support of Clan members. We urge all of you who have an interest in the Clan's heritage to become a Friend or simply to make a donation. We welcome also manuscripts and books about Macleans and gifts of historic artefacts associated with famous Macleans. See the Donations and subscriptions page for practical information on how you could help.
